New Slab Forms waiting for decoration

Some of the new pieces I have been making over the last few weeks, drying slowly and waiting for me to pluck up the courage to start painting them. At last some sunny weather and the hedges are full of primroses. Sitting on my wheel, making bowls and watching the enormous waves breaking on the rocks at the foot of the valley

One of a new series of slab pots that I'm currently making

Sorry I haven't been updating my blog, the last year's been a bit of a challenge, but even so I have managed to develop some new work which has been well-received. This coming year I shall be continuing with this new work, developing new forms and colours. I have some problems with my clay at the moment but hopefully this will be resolved soon. The weather at the studio has been amazingly good, which means that it is a perfect time to throw on the wheel and look out at the scenery.

Working Hard

Working hard trying to catch up this week, as it's a short week, Monday and Friday off and last week was the village Panto... oh yes it was!.. so I didn't get much done then either! Once it warms up I'll be better! Lots of glazing today and the kiln is on so the process is back underway the studio is full of pots so it will be good to get them fired and off to galleries. More decorating tomorrow.

Spring is round the corner

Still v cold but there are primroses on the warm sunny bank facing south to the sea. The wood stove is going flat out as it is hard to get work dry in this cold weather. The studio is full of props I've been making for the village panto!, dress rehearsal in 2 weeks. There are so many pots drying, the shelves are all full so I must do some decorating and get the kiln on. Today though it's a bit of throwing, bowls and vases, coffee and Miles Davis

Morning Report

Crikey it's cold in the studio these winter mornings, the damp really gets inside you. So the first job is to light the stove and chop some wood while the kettle boils, then it's a bit of Steely Dan on the newly installed super sound system and a cuppa while I work out the days jobs. Today it's tree vases and a few decos while I learn my lines for the village panto

And after lunch... world peace.
